Sierra Nevada Community Sailing at Sparks Marina will be offering group and individual adaptive sailing lessons from June through September. By “adaptive” we mean we can teach a wide variety of people in our specialized fleet of Access dinghies, including kids age 7-10, as well as most folks with a disability. (For our regular youth, adult and racing programs, visit the main SNCS website).

Our fleet is made up of three Australian-designed Access dinghies (two 202 doubles, and one 303 double). Because of their unique design and heavy centerboard, they can heel over like any sailboat, but they cannot tip over. We have installed a hoist on our dock to assist in loading and unloading folks who need mechanical assistance with transfers.

If you are interested in sailing, volunteering, or being put on our mailing list, or if you or your company are interested in donating to our program (much appreciated!), please contact Joe Bohl (, SNCS Adaptive Sailing Program Coordinator. If your company is interested in buying a sail and having your logo prominently displayed on it as our boats sail around the lake, please don’t hesitate to contact Joe.
